Hey, I am writing grants to renovate the Capricorn Recording Studio. I am looking for old photos of the exterior and inside of the studio. These old photos are great. Could you send me an email or contact number of Jim Hawkins or anyone else that may have photos. An immediate need is to get photos and permission to use them in a Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation magazine. thanks, John bullsmountain@yahoo.com

Those are absolutely magnificent photos that evoke memories of a different time (not coincidentally the title of a latter day Cowboy reissue CD!). I can only imagine what it must have been like to have been around that tranquil rural setting, particularly on the day captured by the camera. It's a sin if the current owners don't have that photo enlarged on their wall! Great stories above from Harleyman, TT, BP, and ron. Is the Idlewild South building still standing and where exactly is it? Museums should be made of both! Everyone who can should do their best to attend this weekend's Hoopee Jam up in Swainsboro (I'm just a fan, not the promoter!). Tommy, Randall Bramblett, Jimmy Hall, and many others will do a great job of convincing all attendees of why we still love to live in the Southeast and kick back in the kudzu.

Thanks Buffalo for these pictures, LOTS of good memiores. I first meet Tommy and Scott when the band had a house in Indian Harbour Beach when they were called " EASY " at that time Tommy was in New York, and the band was offered to open for Frank Zappa and Mother's of Invertion, so Scott took the band and changed there name to COWBOY just in case the messed up. But they were Great and so the name stayed. I used to go over to their house with Joe Gleen ( Great Trumpet Player ) and Jam all night long. I also met the Allman Joys in 1966 and they played at Satellite High School's Senior Prom. Great Memiores! Ron Russell Bertie Higgins Drummer " Key Largo "

I remember that day out at the house. The Brothers just got a new PA and needed somewhere to set up and work out the kinks. When it started it was just us for an audience but soon people from out of nowhere who had heard the music started pulling up and then there was a pretty good audience.

great website, excellent job.I.to agree with you that Cowboys, Please Be With Me is one of my all time favorites.Randy Meisner from the original Eagles lineup does a version of the song on his solo album,Randy Meisner available on cd from Wounded Bird Records (WOU 140) with David Cassidy singing backup vocals. Although Iam born and raised on the left coast I have always been drawn to southern rock and feel fortunate to have seen the Allmans and Lynard when Duane and Ronnie were still alive, before they were really well known and you could experience the music in small, intimate venues. One show that sticks out is Bill Ghrams show at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco,B.B.King,Buddy Guy & Junior Wells & the Allman Brothers. One of the highlites of the show was Boz Scaggs jamming with the Allmans on Can anybody loan me a dime, all kiler and no filler.Another higlite was Elvin Bishop playing Sweet Little Angel with B.B and B.B. handing Lucille to Elvin who had tears in his eyes, pure fuckin magic. The show ended with everybody jamming together on Statesboro Blues.Truly a memorable evening and a spiritual experince of the highest order

Hey Buffalo, What memories in those old photos. When I saw that one pic of the inside of the studio that Hawkins sent you, I remembered spending the night in there, playing piano and guitar all night til someone came the next day and unlocked the door so I could go home and get some sleep. We all spent many nights puttin' down tunes in there, it was the first time I stayed there all night by myself, good, clean fun, eh?
