A Dispatch To The Muse

A Dispatch To The Muse
5/12/08

"She was standin by the highway
In her boots and silver spurs
Gonna hitchhike to the yellow moon
When a Cadillac stopped for her
And he said hey nice to meet ya
Are you goin' my way?
Yeah that's how it happened
The world caught fire that day..."
                    "Swingin"
                    -Tom Petty

Behind every song, story or book there’s an inspiration. Everyone familiar with the story of “Layla”? Of course, everyone knows the story to that classic song. Tonight I’ll do something out of the ordinary and I’ll flash a glimpse into the inspiration behind my pen as of late. I’d like to send out my regards to my friend who—under extraordinary circumstances—must re-locate from this writer’s daily orbit. I won’t reveal her identity or circumstances, but she’s a great ally, and I hate to see her go. We’ll stay in touch, but this picture I took Friday may explain my heavy-hearted sentiment at her departure. She’s a smart woman and her laugh resonates a soulful joy. She’s a gem, and I’m sure you haven’t heard the last of her. To my Mystery Girl…I send you a cosmic kiss…

Yours in soul,

James Calemine
