Merlefest is Coming Back Home in April
One of our favorite music festivals returns in April. The massive Merlefest hits Wilkes Community College once again, bringing with it more good music than you can shake a stick at.
In the early days of GRITZ, I attended one of the Merlefest events and has a ball, hearing Jorma Kaukonen, Doc Watson, Honeyboy Edwards, Nickel Creek, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas and more. I'll never forget it.
The next year, I turned Merlefest duties over to Derek Halsey who has been writing about it ever since. This year, Derek turns in a combination recap of the 2007 event, preview of 2008 and a look at the legendary Doc Watson. Check it out here.
