I spoke with our buddy Jimmy Farrar today about his band Gator Country. As most of you know, Gator Country is one hot rockin' Florida band that features several past members of Molly Hatchet, including Steve Holland, Bruce Crump, and Riff West, along with Lenny Disse and former UFO member Paul Chapman. Farrar was the lead singer for Hatchet following the departure of Danny Joe Brown, and was first heard on the seminal Beatin' The Odds album
Gator Country has been entertaining audiences for a few years now, and their fans are about to have their prayers answered as the band releases their first CD later this month. Jimmy says the album is called Gator Country Live, and will include one studio track, a cover of Bad Company's "Oh, Atlanta" recorded prior to the passing of guitarist Duane Roland.
"This is a good one," Jimmy said. "It's the old songs, but we play them just a little different because this band has our own unique sound. This ain't Molly Hatchet."
The track list is as follows: Bounty Hunter, All Over Now, Gator Country, Whiskey Man, Dreams, Bloody Reunion, Beatin' The Odds, One Man's Pleasure, Flirtin' With Disaster, Long Tall Sally, Boogie No More and Oh, Atlanta.
Look for a review of Gator Country Live here in GRITZ soon. Sounds like a killer record. I can't wait to spin it.
Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.
