I was on the phone with Delaney Bramlett this afternoon, conducting the first in a series for Swampland called "The Delaney Chronicles," which will delve into the many great stories and memories of this remarkable musical icon. Part one will be posted soon, so be sure to check back every day.
Meanwhile, all of us here at Swampland wish to send heartfelt condolences to all of the Bramletts on the passing of Delaney's mother, Iva Lazone "Mamo" Bramlett. Mamo passed on Saturday, Febriary 23, 2008 at home.
Delaney told me she was in the hospital, and doing badly. She asked him to take her home so she could die at home, which he did. He was holding her hand, and just moments before she died, they were harmonizing on "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine."
This from the Bramlett family:
Iva Lazone "Mamo" Bramlett left this earth yesterday, February 23, 2008 at 10:55 am from her ranch in her own room to join her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ with whom she loved with all of her heart . Heaven has now become an even more glorious place than it was before. The heavenly choir of angels is now joined by the sweetest and greatest alto there ever was.
Our love and thoughts and prayers are with Delaney and the family.
Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.
