The Best of Southern Rock

I have made lists for as long as I can remember. In fact, somewhere around here I have a spiral notebook I started in 1976 with lisitings of my favorite LPs, singles and bands that year and in years to come. The one thing that blows my mind is that the Allman Brothers Fillmore release and Derek and The Dominos Layla have remeined my two favorites from back then until now. The top two are the only titles that have never changed.

I gave my official Swampland Top 25 list a lot of thought, and while my favorites change daily, I believe I have nailed down a list that includes not only my favorites of the original Southern Rock Era, but also the best of the second wave of Southern Rock that brought out The Black Crowes, Cry of Love and more.

We are also proud to present the first in an ongoing chronicle of Top Ten lists from Southern Rockers, critics and industry folks.

If you have a hankering to share your own list of favorites, please do. Just share them in the Comments below. We'd love to hear from you.

Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.
