As I write this little ol' blog, I am tapping my number 13's on the hard wood floor, watching Big & Rich in concert on Direct TV and they are just ripping it up. Dang I love them guys. They combine elements of country, Southern Rock, classic rock and anything else that fits into a unique show that is nothing but full tilt boogie from "We're Coming to Your City" to "Take a Ride On the Love Train" and on and on. They just did about four tunes back to back. And boy do I love their song "The 8th of November." Just great. What a show. Here's a video I found online of that cool song.
I spoke to our buddy Jimmy Farrar this afternoon. He is recovering well from his stroke and healing nicely. He said he still has some recovery ahead and is doing physical therapy and plans to sing with Gator Country again in 2009. Good news from the former Molly Hatchet lead singer of "Beatin' The Odds," who is living proof of not listening to the odds. Jimmy is the best, man. We are all cheering for him. Here's a cool (if a little grainy) video from 1981 of Jimmy fronting Hatchet. Hell yeah!
Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.

Get well Jimmy We need you. I was in Upstate NY and Hatchet was played. I had to miss them because of a chance to go fly fishing in Vermont. My friend said they just were not that good, SO I turned him on to Gator Country. He loved it. We send you our thoughts and prayers. Hell Yea we are ready for you to come back.

Good news about Jimmy. I have met him a few times with SRA and he is just a great guy, a true man of the people. Last time I saw him he was sitting out front with the ticket taker swappin' stories with the fans and making everyone feel right at home. Not many rockers as accessible as Jimmy Farrar. God Bless you, Jimmy!!!
