On January 29th it will be seven months. Seven months since we lost one of Southern Rock's true greats. A man I was lucky enough to call my friend. A man I was lucky enough to share stages with and record with, George McCorkle of the original Marshall Tucker Band. Truth be told, I miss him every day.
I was talking with a mutual friend of mine and George's, Sonny Edwards, a couple of nights ago, and we drifted into memories of George, which branched off into a discussion about the Jam 4 George back in November, and how much George's son Justin reminds us of George.
Then tonight I was surfing the YouTube site, and saw where Bruce Wall had posted a video of George's very last performance. He was onstage with Candy Coburn and her band doing "Can't You See."
The thing about it that caused my eyes to well up was the banter before the song. It is just so uniquely George. He was funny and jut loved to entertain.
I wanted to post Bruce's video in hopes that more people can see it, and get a little bit of a glimpse into the kind of man George McCorkle was. Enjoy.
Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.

Great video of George. Thanks. I am a huge MTB fan from Spartanburg. I can't believe we have never crossed paths. I am so happy to have found this website. I love all your writings. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Michael, I too miss him so very much. In everything I do he is there. I am working on Monica's website tonight, and he is there. He touched all of our lives so deeply. He was truly the most giving soul I have ever known. I myself had to go to the DR. today, unfortunately they ran all the tests at UMC in Lebanon (hospital where George passed) and it was very upsetting to walk thru those doors. I miss you my brother more than words will ever express...There is a huge hole in our lives that we can only fill with your memories and your music.. Bruce
