Allman News: Gregg's New Album, Change of Venue for Annual Beacon Run

Posted: Jan 08, 2010

Lots of Allman Brothers news is rolling in. I am happy to report that Gregg Allman is finishing up his first solo album since 1997’s Searching for Simplicity.

The album, which he hopes to call You’re In Good Hands with Allman, if he can get the go ahead from Allstate Insurance, will contain 14 songs recorded over 11 days with T-Bone Burnett producing, It promises to be a killer.

The new album will be filled with covers of old blues tunes, many of them obscure, Gregg told The California Chronicle recently. The album will include a few surprises including a guest shot from Dr. John “The Night Tripper” himself.

And if you haven’t yet heard, the Allman Brothers Band’s annual Beacon run will not take place at The Beacon this year for the first time since 1989. Seems the theatre gave the Allman’s spot to a new Cirque du Soleil show. That just doesn’t seem right, but whatcha gonna do?

So the March Madness will happen at United Palace Theatre in Washington Heights in New York on March 11 - 20. I am certain it will be a great run, but it will be awfully hard to beat last years 40th Anniversary star-studded shows. Still, I can hardly wait. Thanks to Moogis, I will again be reviewing the shows. Heck, I may even get to attend one!

What do you think about The Beacon giving away The Brothers’ dates after 20 years? I’d like to know.

Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.

PS: I realize Friday is usually "Top Ten List" Day, so in keeping with our theme of the day, I invite you to re-visit my Top 25 Songs of The Allman Brothers Band.

Why don't you ever think of how it is to win? You've been on the defensive for UGG Boots Clearance so long that you can't think of that. Sure. But that was before all that stuff went up this road. That was before all the planes came. Don't be so na飗e. But remember this that as long as we can hold them here we keep UGG Boots Clearance the fascists tied up. They can't attack any other country until they finish with us and they can never finish with us. If the French help at all, if only they leave the frontier open and if we get planes from America they can never UGGS Clearance finish with us. Never, if we get anything at all. These people will fight forever if they're well armed. No you must not expect victory here, not for several years maybe. This is just a holding attack. You must not get illusions about it now. Suppose we got a break-through today? This is our first big attack. Keep your sense of proportion. But what if we should have Ugg boots clearance it? Don't get excited, he told himself. Remember what went up the road. You've done what you could about that. We should have portable short-wave sets, though. We will, in time. But we haven't yet. You just watch now and do what you should. Today is only one day in all the days that will ever be. But what will happen in all the other days that ever come can depend on what you do today. It's been that Ugg boots clearance way all this year. It's been that way so many times. All of this war is that way. You are getting very pompous in the early morning, he told himself. Look there what's coming now. He saw the two men in blanket capes and steel helmets come around the corner of the road walking toward the bridge, their rifles slung over their shoulders. One stopped at the far end of the bridge and was out of sight in the sentry box. The other came on Ugg boots clearance across the bridge, walking slowly and heavily. He stopped on the bridge and spat into the gorge, then came on slowly to the near end of the bridge where the other sentry spoke to him and then started off back over the bridge.

Gregg sure is the real thing! I just saw him on Tuesday night, and his voice just keeps getting better with age. Yes, it sucks that the Beacon broke a 20+ year tradition, but I am looking forward to the magic that is the Allman Brothers Band at a new venue in March. They never disappoint!

I think it is awful that the Beacon pulled the plug on the Allmans. These days everything is about money and they will stab you in the back for a buck

Gregg's the real thing. A true southern original. Duane and Gregg's music along with the rest of the bros. is the definition of southern rock.
