Special Edition of Magazine Features Great Southern Rock Articles

Heads up, Southern Rock fans. There’s a magazine out on the stands right now that you are going to want. It’s called Guitar Legends, and the issue is called  “The Complete History of Southern Rock.” While it is by no means a “complete” history. it is very good, with a lot of good writing on some of our favorite bands, and a few of the many included photographs are pics I have never before seen.

Included is the “Lost” interview with Duane Allman, the Story of Lynyrd Skynyrd, classic reprint articles like James Hetfield interviewing Gov’t Mule (when Woody was still alive) and Zak Wylde talking music with Gary Rossington. There’s a whole article on how to play “Green Grass and High Tides” properly on guitar, and a piece on the cover art of Molly Hatchet. There’s a nice story on “Southern Rock’s Unsung Heroes-Blackfoor,” and Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts discuss the Brothers’ immortal Fillmore East album. All of this and five classic Southern Rock songs are transcribed with sheet music, chords and lyrics.

I rarely get bent out of shape over a magazine anymore, but this one is killer. Special thanks to our pal Dewayne “Rebyl” Fields for cluing me in about the mag this morning.
