Buffalo's Soap Box: What I Believe

Posted: Jun 26, 2008

The sound you just heard was the sound of boards creaking as I stepped up onto my soap box. I just can’t hold back any longer. I have to rant a little. Please bear with me, do not adjust your set, and we will return to our regularly scheduled programming immediately following this blog.

I have never understood our trading pieces of green paper and shiny metal for goods and services. Especially given the fact that the paper and metal is backed up by pretty gold bricks, which is essentially rocks. And everyone spends a small fortune on a wedding ring, because someone somewhere decided these clear, shiny rocks called diamonds were super valuable. I guess I think too much.

What I believe. I believe that judging someone by the color of their skin is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. I never have understood that.

I believe that this whole oil thing is a trap that could be avoided. I believe that some men with more dollars than sense are controlling each and every one of our lives, and we don’t see it. I believe that the gas prices are ridiculous, and that the gas they are selling us now is cheaper quality. Have you noticed how quickly it burns? I have. I believe that there are alternative fuels in place, hidden away in the Pentagon, so that big oil can be protected. It’s right in there with the perfect solar powered car, the cure for cancer and AIDS, other things the government doesn’t want us to know about. What would the pharmaceutical industry do?

I believe that the mass media is used to poison our minds, keep us scared and make us live in fear and worry. Watching the evening news is like being strapped into that brain washing machine Captain Kirk was almost hit with on that episode of Star Trek that time. The one that would have completely wiped out his mind so that it could be reprogrammed.

I believe The Allman Brothers Band was and is the greatest rock and roll band in history.

I believe in one God, a Universal Spirit that flows through every person, animal, plant and virtually everything we see and don’t see. I believe God is a loving God, not the one I learned about as a boy, when the Preacher would stand on the pulpit and yell the words, “Fear God!” My God doesn’t want fear. He doesn’t want hate. He is all about love. I believe without God we are nothing.

I believe Global Warming is killing our planet, and unless we all get off of our asses and do our part, Mother Earth will be no more.

I believe there was a whole lot more to the 9/11 tragedy than what they are telling us. A whole lot more.

Maybe I have just watched too many episodes of The X-Files, but I do believe with all my heart that the truth is out there. Waiting. I want to believe.

Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.

Ok you opened a can of worms. I agree with you but I also think the only real difference you can make is the people you meet each day. I came from the " REVOLUTION" MC5 , the weathermen, Abby Hoffman. I met a lot of the folks and I'm not sure we changed the world. I do know You have to work within the system to change it. I know how to make a difference in somebodys life but I can't change the world. I know at the end of the day I can listen to some southern rock and be at peace. The question is should the music be political or a way to sooth the soul. I loved Steve Earles Copperhead road but I never listen to the Revolution starts now. I don't know Buff I agree with you but I have to ask when you Jam with The Tucker Band and sing Can't you see. Well there is your peace. I have no answers but as Travis Tritt said. I love to Jam with the Skynrd Band.

We here in the U.S.A have more oil underground than Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Venezuela, Brazil and most any any other oil producing country you can name. Our environmentalist friends won't let us go get it. ANWAR (Arctic National Wildlife Animal Refuge) consists of 19 million acres of pristine untouched land siting upon several billion barrels of oil. Uninhabited by humans and no one goes there. Bill Clinton vetoed a proposal over 10 years ago to drill in ANWAR. 19 million acres and drilling would consist of several thousand acres. Someone said that it was like putting a postage stamp on a football field. We have billions of oil under the Gulf and Pacific Coast, in Colorado and several other western states. But we haven't been allowed to build an new oil refinery here in the U.S.A. in over 30 years. You want to talk about an X-File episode???? Again because of our good old environmentalist friends here we have President Bush begging OPEC to increase their amount of oil production. They basically spit in our faces and say "NO". Then Spain has some unrest and they agree to increase production by half a million barrels!!!! Again The X-Files!!!! Barrac Hussein Osama wants to tax big oil companies for their windfall profits!!!!! Companies like that don't pay that tax!!!! They incorporate that tax into the cost of the product they sell and we will ultimately pay the bill!!!! Simple economics!!!! There's a petition going around called "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less". I've signed it and sent it to all my friends. At last count I think they had over a million signatures. Lord I could go ond and on.... Buff if you want I can send you the online link to the petition and you can post it on Gritz. The sound you just heard was the sound of boards creaking as I stepped OFF of my soap box. Also.... Outlaw, What has convinced you that President Bush was in "kahootz" with Osama? I'd really like to know. I'm in the dark here. ABB & Skynyrd Rule!!!!!

outlawcountry says...

George W Bush was in kahootz with Osama. I am convinced. I agree with your ideas about the govt keeping secrets from us and this oil thing shouldn't even be an issue. We should be running on solar or battery. Yes, and The Allman Bros are #1.
