All You Need is Love: Happy New Year from GRITZ

As we move into the new year, I am filled with HOPE and OPTIMISM that I have not felt in several years. Yes, I voted for Obama. Yes, I feel he is our best hope for positive change. And yes, I pray that I am right.

With that hope tucked snugly into my heart, and a big smile on my face about exciting things happening at SWAMPLAND and in my personal life, I still find myself in a melancholy mood during these last six hours of the year.

Of course, I know what the reason is. My daughter, grand daughter and son in law are returning to Hawaii after visiting over the holidays. Ah, parting is such sweet sorrow.

I enjoyed getting to know my first grand child, Zoe. She’s a hoot, and quite a beauty, like her mom. Of course, I have never felt closer to my girl Hannah, and I finally got to talk to J.C. a bit, and he is just great. I enjoyed our time with his parents and grandparents too. This was the best Christmas I have had in years. All about love, hardly any of the trappings of the obligatory commercial ghost of Christmas past. It was just heartwarming. Of course, I did get the Dark Knight DVD (thanks, Ben and Austin) and the new Stephen King book (thanks Hannah and J.C., for the B&N gift card), and those were pretty cool extras.

But it was all about love. All about family. I hope you all had some special times with your families too. And I hope the new year brings you all everything you wish for and deserve. God bless.
