John Wyker's Memories of Duane Allman at FAME
Posted: Mar 23, 2009Over the weekend I ran across some discs that house articles from the eleven issues of GRITZ the print magazine. In the coming weeks, we will be adding articles and interviews to the archives that were previously unavailable.
Today, I have added a "Cat Taie" written by John Wyker of Decatur, Alabama. Wyker is a founding member of the band Sailcat, and a succesful songwriter and all around guru. This particular Cat Tale is perfect as a part of our Allman Brothers Band Month. A great story of Duane Allman recording at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals. Hope y'all like it. Oh, and the photo is Duane taking a siesta on the floor at FAME in between takes on another session. Closely protecting that '58 Les Paul Gold Top.

I enjoyed the article by John Wyker.. I remember when Cher was married to Greg and would go to church at Trinity Episcopal in Florence when he was recording at Fame... Also, across the opposite side of the river where Wyker's cabin was, a cute blond girl would visit her grandmother during the summer.. she was Cybil Shepard.
