All-Star Line-up For 8th Annual John Jarrard Concert

Greetings folks...today I got an announcement from my friend The University of Georgia's Terry Business College director--Bruce Burch--that provides information for the upcoming 8th Annual John Jarrard Concert. Here is the official transmission:

Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to send you information regarding the 8th annual John Jarrard Concert. The songwriters lined up for this year have, without a doubt, the potential to be the best show ever. This event, hosted by the John Jarrard Foundation, will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009, on the front lawn of Pierce Auditorium at Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. This year’s amazing singer-songwriters will include the legendary Steve Cropper, Buddy Cannon, Roger Cook, Gary Nicholson, Jimmy Hall, John Berry and a few more surprises. Please see below for a list of their hits and accomplishments.

Proceeds will go to benefit local charities including the Good News Clinics, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hall County, Georgia Mountain Food Bank Fund, and one of John's favorite causes, Good News at Noon. We have also established a new initiative this year called the First Verse program. First Verse is a program that takes songwriting and music into the local City and County school systems and gives kids an opportunity to learn more about songwriting then actually write songs with real songwriters and perform them for the school.

“Green Onions” and many others. He was the “Play It Steve” guitarist in the Blues Brothers movie with John
Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. Member of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Roger Cook “I’d Like To Teach The World to Sing”, “I Believe In You” “I Just Wanna Dance With
You” (recorded by George Strait) and numerous other hit songs.

Buddy Cannon “Set 'Em Up Joe”, “Just Give It Away” “I’ve Come To Expect It From You” (both recorded by George Strait) and has
produced George Jones, Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney and more.

Gary Nicholson “One More Last Chance” (Vince Gill) “Trouble With The Truth” (Patti Loveless) “Old Weakness” (over 450 songs cut) and produced Delbert McClinton, Wynonna and many others.

Jimmy Hall Founding member of Wet Willie, co-writer and singer on “Keep On Smiling” “Rendezvous With
The Blues”, plays harmonica and saxophone with Hank Williams Jr., Gregg Allman and many
others.
