SEC Daily Fever: Tough Injury for the Razorbacks

Posted: Aug 18, 2009

SEC Daily Fever is the top SEC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

The Arkansas defense has suffered a major loss with the news that cornerback Isaac Madison is out for the season with a knee injury.

Bobby Petrino’s crew is looking to be the spoiler in a loaded SEC West this season. While most of the attention will go to new quarterback Ryan Mallett, the defense must improve greatly after finishing last in the SEC in points and yards given up. Obviously losing a starting corner is a major blow to that effort.

No one has ever doubted Petrino's ability to coach offense.  He did it as an Auburn assistant and as the head coach at Louisville.  However, defense was a problem at Louisville, and the SEC is not the Big East or Conference USA.

Losses to injury like this one could delay Arkansas' spoiler role for another year.

Honorable Mention SEC Headlines:

Vols still undecided on a starting quarterback

Is Richard Samuel the leading candidate to replace Knowshon Moreno?
