Texas Tech got some welcome news as it appears that leading rusher Baron Batch will return to the gridiron sooner than expected.

Last week Batch was hit on the elbow by a tackler, and it was projected that he could miss 3 to 6 weeks. As Tech tries to maintain last year’s momentum without Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree, having a weapon like Batch who averaged 6.7 yards a carry as a freshman is paramount to that effort.

It will be a welcome security blanket for new quarterback Taylor Potts to have the Raiders’ leading rusher healthy and ready to go in the backfield.

The Red Raiders are coming off their finest year ever under Mike Leach.  Having healthy weapons on offense might be the difference between reloading and rebuilding in Lubbock.
