Big 12 Daily Fever: Will Missouri run the ball more in 2009?

Posted: Aug 25, 2009

Big 12 Daily Fever is the top Big 12 story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

With Chase Daniel at the helm, Mizzou fans got used to seeing the ball tossed all over the field. The Tigers followed suit with many other Big 12 clubs in running a wide-open spread passing attack the last few seasons with under offensive coordinator Dave Christensen.

With Daniel now playing for the Redskins and Christensen leading the Wyoming program, it looks like the Tigers may actually run the ball more frequently in 2009. Sophomore quarterback Blaine Gabbert is one of the highest-rated recruits to ever come to Columbia, but it's nice to have a veteran tailback like Derrick Washington to lean on while he gains valuable experience.

When the Tigers face high-powered attacks like Oklahoma State, Kansas and Texas this season, getting in an old fashioned shootout with those senior quarterbacks may not be the best method to a victory.
