SEC Daily Fever: Chizik Tries To "Manage" Auburn Fans' Expectations

Posted: Sep 16, 2009

SEC Daily Fever is the top SEC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

Auburn fans have had more than a little frustration with their offense over the last few seasons. But now with Gus Malzahn calling the plays, the expectations are starting to rise on the Plains after the Tigers scored 37 and 49 points in their first two games.

New head coach Gene Chizik is trying to "manage" those expectations as he prepares his squad for a rematch against West Virginia.

After last year’s 34-17 loss in Morgantown, Auburn fans are ready for revenge and think they now have the firepower to score with a quality Mountaineer offense.

Chizik can try to quell the fervor of his fan base, but after two seasons of watching Alabama and Nick Saban dominate the state’s headlines, Tigers fans are ready for some good news.
