Big 12 Daily Fever: Texas In the Driver's Seat

Posted: Oct 06, 2009

The early story in the conference has been the decline of injury-riddled Oklahoma and their two non-conference losses. Meanwhile, the Texas Longhorns are sitting at #2 in the polls and getting ready for a tough three game stretch after this week’s matchup with Colorado.

After the a home game with the Buffaloes, Mack Brown’s squad will face Oklahoma in Dallas and then travel to Missouri and Oklahoma State in successive weeks. While that is a tough gauntlet, the goal of a Big 12 Title and BCS berth is clearly within reach for the ‘Horns. They will be the favorite in each game ahead and will benefit in the polls as top SEC teams knock each other off.

Coaches always like to take ‘one game at a time’, but it will be very easy for Longhorns’ fans base to look at the schedule and expect their first league crown since the 2005 National Title season.

The biggest test will likely still be against the wounded, but still dangerous, Sooners from OU.  If the Horns can get past them, they have a chance to fulfill the destiny that many expected of them in 2009.
