Big 12 Daily Fever: Sam Bradford Shouldn't Be Second-Guessed

Posted: Oct 29, 2009

Sam Bradford had successful surgery yesterday, and he now will rehabilitate his shoulder in preparation for the NFL Draft.

The Oklahoma junior will not hire an agent just in case his therapy does not go well, and he could possibly still come back to Norman. It seems like the right decision to go to the NFL now, after coming back this season and suffering an injury. However, we believe the national media is wrong for their second-guessing of Bradford on his decision to return this year.

Many media members in places like New York, L.A., and Philadelphia have no clue what it's like to be a football hero in states like Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, or in this case, Oklahoma. Bradford wanted to lead his home-state Sooners back to the BCS Title game after coming up just short a season ago. That's a very powerful thing and should not be underestimated by those who live thousands of miles away.

Additionally, look at most of the superstar quarterbacks in the NFL. Guys like the Manning brothers, Brady, Brees, Palmer, and recently Matt Ryan all stayed to play their senior years of college. National writers like to criticize guys like Bradford who may lose some money on the front end (although they are still millionaires), but they can make it up in their second contract.

We salute Bradford for wanting to come back to school and wish him well in his professional career.
