Ike Stubblefield & Friends Jam Tonight In Atlanta

I met B-3 wizard Ike Stubblefield two years ago in San Francisco. He was playing with the Yonrico Scott Band at a friend of mine’s 40th birthday party. I brought guitarist Marc Ford by to sit in on the festive proceedings that memorable night. Ike’s jammed with The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, The Temptations, Jerry Garcia, Jimmy Herring, Jim Capaldi, Eric Clapton, Ike & Tina Turner, Colonel Bruce Hampton, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Quincy Jones, B.B. King, Curtis Mayfield and Al Green among others. He’s a musical force, and every so-called music fan should be aware of his work.

Since then I’ve caught up with Ike on various occasions. The last time I hung out with him was last December at Tree Sound Studios in Atlanta…a one of a kind facility. Tonight Ike is playing at Zuffy’s in Atlanta with Grant Green Jr., Yonrico Scott (Derek Trucks Band), Count M’Butu and Scott Freeman. These musicians rank as some of the heaviest players in the state and together they brew up a potent musical stew.
