American Idol Finale Brings Aaron Kelly and Stars of The 70's Out To Play

The American Idol finale was one of the best ever, especially for folks in my generation. Tons of surprise guests, with the lion's share being stars of the seventies and eighties. People like Chicago, Alice Cooper, Joe Cocker and The Bee Gees, along with Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Alanis Morsette and others. One high point was when 2nd runner up Casey James performed "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" with Brett Michaels. According to reports, Michaels, who almost died just weeks ago, failed to tell his doctors that he was doing Idol. That rascal.

It was good seeing my buddy Aaron Kelly again. I can't wait to ask him about singing with The BEe Gees. The 17-year old may say, "Who?"

The show was great, with lots of funny clips from retiring judge Simon Cowell, and oodles of great music. I really had a ball singing along all night, and in the end it was Lee Dewyze prevailing over Crystal Bowersox. Of course both of them and probably all of the Top Five will probably be big stars by this time next year. I know Aaron will.
