I interviewed Marc Ford today regarding his new album Fuzz Machine. Marc Ford is one of the few Caucasians to receive an NAACP award. His soulful guitar work from Ben Harper’s album There Will Be A Light earned him this rare honor. Most folks know Ford’s music from the years he played with The Black Crowes as well as his solo career and guitar mastery with Booker T. Jones, Gov’t Mule, Blue Floyd and Burning Tree.
It will take several days to transcribe the interview. This excerpt from today’s Q & A reveals how Marc decided to release the Fuzz Machine, an album recorded in 2007. “For the last year or so, I’ve just put everything down. It got to be where it’s more work than fun. I’ve done a couple of things around town with my wife, my friend Chris Lizotte, and singing with neighbors. I’ve also got a new baby. So, it’s one of those things…
“What happened was a friend of mine in the TV business got my song “Future Too” played on FX’s TV show, Sons of Anarchy. It went on the air about a week or two ago. They told me they may play it on the show for a year. So, we came up with a way people could obtain the music, and we just put the entire record out.”
