Mississippi Celebrates Its Grammy Legacy on June 7

On June 7, 2011, Govenor Haley Barbour and First Lady Marsha Barbour will host the fifth annual Mississippi celebration of its Grammy legacy. The list of performers this year include B.B. King, North Mississippi Allstars duo, Shannon McNally, Jimbo Mathus, Benjamin Wright, Jay Dean, The Tropical World of Tango and writer/actress Joey Lauren Adams.

Govenor Barbour said this about the upcoming event: "Each year's Grammy event is a great success and allows us to reflect on the impact Mississippi artists have had on our music, from Elvis to B.B. King to Leontyne Price, Mississippians have truly influenced all forms of musical styles from rock to opera. If it's music, it's Mississippi."

The event will be held at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi.
