The new Georgia Theatre officially opens tonight in Athens, Georgia. The historic theatre burned down in 2009. Tonight an Athens band--The Glands--will play to a sold out crowd at the Grand Opening.
Madeline opens for The Glands. Years ago, The Glands recorded on the Velocette/Capricorn Records label, which sets up tomorrow's musical guests on the billing. Chuck Leavell and Randall Bramblett perform at The Georgia Theatre tomorrow night. The Leavell & Bramblett group--Sea Level--also recorded on Capricorn Records, and served as the first band to play at The Georgia Theatre in the 70s.
Upcoming Georgia Theatre shows this month include Blackberry Smoke, the Aquarium Rescue Unit, Big Boi, Gillian Welch, The Drive By Truckers, Stockholm Syndrome, The Whigs and The Chris Robinson Brotherhood. Welcome Back Randy & Wilmot...Cheers...
