Marc Ford and the Neptune Blues Club

Another Transmission From The Great Marc Ford
9/3/08

We've missed each other's messages for the past couple of days, but I finally spoke with Marc Ford today. Marc has a new album and a new band on the way called Marc Ford and the Neptune Blues Club. He sent me the files of the new CD...and it's mighty fine. It's playing as I write this, and its steeped in hard, cold blues. Marc asked me to write the bio for the album, and I'm honored at the request.

He revealed some very interesting news, but I'll keep quiet for a couple of weeks. Sometimes I feel like a secret agent walking around with all this confidential information I cannot reveal...not yet. The way to any artist's heart is trust, and I'm all about that--so for now mum's the word. This new collection of songs will jar the listener's teeth loose. Hands down, Marc Ford is one of the best guitar players walking the planet and I say this with total confidence. He's up there with Steve Cropper, James Burton and Dickey Betts.

We'll be talking more in the days to come as the time approaches for this record to hit the streets. Rest assured, I'll keep everyone posted. Meanwhile, Swampland/Mystery And Manners has some very interesting things happening with Bruce Burch, Paul Hemphill, Stanley Booth, Dust To Digital, Chuck Leavell, The Black Crowes, Widespread Panic and Cody Dickinson. Oh yeah, Kirk West sent me an email today informing me on September 13 Mike Farris with special guests Jimmy Hall and The Roseland Rhythm Review will be performing in Macon for the "Stay And Play In Macon" concert series. There will be no shortage of news this fall...more tomorrow...

Smilin' Atcha,

James Calemine
