Getting To Know Alan Paul, A Southern Rock Champion

Posted: May 12, 2011

Guitar World magazine and the Allman Brothers Band.  Those are two things our readers are quite familiar with.  One man, Alan Paul, serves as an important link between the two.

Paul was one of the key people that took the reins of Guitar World in the early 1990s and help build it into one of the top music magazines around.  Paul has also had a long time friendship with the Allman Brothers Band and its members going back to right around that same time.

Paul's love for Southern Rock and its blues guitar roots has been a grounding force in his life as he has traveled the world as a writer.  You see, Paul's wife is also a writer, and her career led their family to China.  Big In China, a book which tells Paul's story of his time in China and how it became a musical journey, was recently published to rave reviews.

We are thankful that Paul reached out to Swampland with a link from his writing archives - Alan Paul's 10 Best Southern Rock Albums.  This is a list worth checking out.

Big In China is on the way to us, and we'll report on it soon.  Expect to hear more from Alan Paul here at Swampland.
