It may not have been the most well played game, but what a finish we all got to see in Athens Saturday.
LSU led Georgia 6-0 after three quarters, but then came some good, old-fashioned Southern drama that had college football fans glued to their televisions all over the country. It was a fourth quarter with four lead changes, including three in the last three minutes of the game.
In the end, Charles Scott’s 33-yard TD run with 46 seconds to go was the difference as LSU prevailed 20-13 over the Dawgs.
Many pundits thought that Les Miles’ club was ‘overrated’ after barely escaping Starkville last weekend. But the Tigers showed some major resolve in winning their second straight league road game, and they now have set up a CBS dream matchup. This Saturday night will bring the #1 ranked Florida Gators to Baton Rouge for some prime time, must-see TV.
How good is LSU? Will Tebow play? Did the Tigers finally rediscover their physical ground game against Georgia? Those questions and more will be answered this weekend in a very highly anticipated SEC contest.
These types of "national attention games" justifies the billions of dollars spent by CBS and ESPN on the SEC.
