Tom Petty Talks Southern Mojo
Mojo—due out June 29—counts as the first Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers album in 8 years. Mojo revolves around the rural south. The music derives inspiration from artists such as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and The Rolling Stones.
Petty recently told USA Today about Mojo: “We finally made a record worthy of the band, one that makes use of the musicianship. Every rehearsal started with the blues. It’s how we sound after hours. I thought we should stay where we naturally play. I’m more excited than I’ve been in a long time…”
