Arkansas born, Craig Brewer's Black Snake Moan exists as a fine film. Samuel L. Jackson added another great performance to his repertoire. Christina Ricci--bra-less, covered only by a sleeveless-belly t-shirt for most of the film, gives a great performance of a tormented character.
Every actor in this film shines--even, as much as I hate to say it, Memphis kid Justin Timberlake. Black Snake Moan tells a redemptive story in the modern day south with characters who are in no way motivated by money or shallow appearance.
The film's soundtrack includes music by the North Mississippi All-Stars, Junior Kimbrough, R. L. Burnside, The Black Keys, Son House, Precious Bryant, Jesse Mae Hemphill, Bobby Rush and even two compositions penned by Sam L. Jackson himself.
