This 246 page book serves as a comprehensive anthology for the history of the Auburn football program. Paul Hemphill was the sports editor of the Auburn Plainsman during the National Championship season of 1957 and is the author of sixteen books. Some of his most notable works include The Nashville Sound, the best-selling biography of Hank Williams titled Lovesick Blues, Long Gone, Leaving Birmingham, Nobody’s Hero, The Good Old Boys and Too Old To Cry.
Hemphill writes a brilliant story that outlines the progress of the Auburn football team from the first game up to the 2007 season. Hemphill records the peaks and valleys of the Auburn football program. This handsome book contains 172 quality photographs of former players and coaches including Mike Donahue, Shug Jordan, Pat Dye, Bo Jackson and hundreds of others including present coach Tommy Tuberville.
