ACC Daily Fever: Ticket Sales Say That UNC Is More Than Just Basketball

What a difference a top coach can make. Butch Davis has awakened the North Carolina football fan base as the first three home games for this season have already sold out.

The Heels went from four wins in 2007 to eight last year and made a bowl game for the first time since 2004. Davis will look to continue that momentum in 2009 as UNC looks to challenge Virginia Tech for Coastal Division supremacy.

Getting the fans fired up will be huge for UNC, who has sold out 12 of 13 home games under Davis, including all seven a year ago.

The Tar Heel football emergence remains a secret weapon for ACC football which needs to establish a national player as the conference looks to its next TV contract.

This demonstration that football pride can live in the heart of college basketball country is a good sign for both Carolina and the ACC at large.
