ACC Daily Fever: Short Week Has Swinney Understandably Nervous About Tonight's Game

Posted: Sep 10, 2009

ACC Daily Fever is the top ACC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

Paul Johnson’s spread running attack had quite the effect on the league a year ago. Most coaches say you need an extra week to prepare for the Jackets, and that fact has Clemson’s Dabo Swinney nervous as his Tigers get ready to travel to Atlanta Thursday night. The schedule makers did him no favors with only three days to practice for Tech’s vaunted running game.

The same dynamic was true a year ago when Swinney began his interim tenure the week of the Georgia Tech game after the departure of Tommy Bowden. The Tigers played tough in that contest before falling 21-17. The winner of this year’s game will get some serious momentum on what promises to be a close race for ACC supremacy.
