ACC Weekend Fever: Clemson Rally Against Tech Shows Heart, Falls Short

Posted: Sep 11, 2009

ACC Weekend Fever Previews Top Stories for the Upcoming Weekend

Although it was still a 30-27 road loss, Clemson has to be encouraged by their second half rally in Atlanta. They showed an ability to move the ball and play effective defense, unlike the first half where Georgia Tech’s big plays were killers.

We mentioned earlier this week that the Tigers’ short preparation could be a factor, and that was definitely the case in the first half. However, Clemson looked like a ball club with some serious potential in the second half, as redshirt freshman Kyle Parker seemed to grow up before our eyes.

With Atlantic Division favorite Florida State already have a league loss as well, Dabo Swinney’s club can still make a solid run at winning the ACC’s weaker half.

With last night's game as the only in conference ACC game scheduled for this week, the rest of the ACC faces relatively easy out of conference competition.  (Virginia plays TCU, but we're expecting little from the Cavs this season after last week's debacle.)

However, we are still waiting to see if one or two team emerge from the ACC.  Georgia Tech deserves credit for looking pretty good right now, but there is a long way to go.
