ACC Daily Fever: Miami Works Long Hours To Stop Tech's Running Game

Posted: Sep 15, 2009

ACC Daily Fever is the top ACC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

We wrote last week about how tough it would be for Clemson to prepare for Georgia Tech’s spread running attack. The Tigers got off to a rough start, but then made some key adjustments as they almost came back and beat the Jackets.

Now it’s Miami’s turn this Thursday night.

The Canes preparation for Tech’s offense started way back in the summer.  Miami gained a ton of momentum in beating Florida State, but the defense did have its struggles in that game.

Miami gave up 472 yards on the ground in last season’s 41-23 loss to Georgia Tech. Obviously Randy Shannon’s bunch will have to play much better if they want to win this key Coastal Division matchup.

As the ACC continues to search for a national contender out of their conference, both Miami and Georgia Tech are vying for that top spot.  Regardless of the winner, that team needs to seize the momentum and keep it up all season long for the ACC to rise to elite conference status.
