ACC Daily Fever: FSU's Players Call Closed Door Meeting

Posted: Sep 16, 2009

ACC Daily Fever is the top ACC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

It doesn’t affect their ACC title hopes, but the BYU contest in Provo Saturday could become Florida State’s most important game of the season.

FSU had some pretty high expectations entering 2009, and so far they have lost at home to rival Miami and escaped with a last minute victory against an ‘FCS’ squad, Jacksonville State.

If the ‘Noles don’t come ready to play against a tough BYU team, many questions are going to be asked about Florida State’s leadership.  Understanding the gravity of the moment, the players are having meetings to make sure they are ‘on the same page’.

BYU has already beaten Oklahoma this year, and the crowd out West will be electric with a big name like Florida State coming to town. A 1-2 FSU start with no Division 1 wins would cause the fan base to seriously question the coaching staff, led by Bobby Bowden and coach-in-waiting Jimbo Fisher.

A tough road win could turn things around and get the fans fired up about winning a fairly weak Atlantic Division.  As they say - the season, and perhaps Bowden's coaching future, is hanging in the balance.
