ACC Daily Fever: Miami at Virginia Tech Is This Weekend's Biggest Game

Posted: Sep 25, 2009

The anticipation in Blacksburg is reaching a fever pitch.

It is not lost on us here that it has been quite a while since an in conference ACC matchup is the game of the week.

Saturday’s Miami-Virginia Tech matchup will probably decide the Coastal Division, the ACC, and will go a long way in answering the national debate of whether “The U” is back.

Most importantly, one of these two teams could become an ACC football fixture in the top ten for the rest of the year.

The last time the ‘Canes played as a Top 10 team was the 2005 Peach Bowl, when they were destroyed by LSU 40-3. However, Miami is one of the few teams that has had success at Lane Stadium over the years, and Randy Shannon’s club could make a huge statement with a win there this year.

This game could also put Jacory Harris in the Heisman race, something nobody would have thought before the season. Bud Foster’s Hokie defense is known for frustrating and confusing young quarterbacks, and that will be their goal for winning Saturday.

If Harris leads the Canes to another impressive victory, get ready to hear a lot more about him and the return of “The U”.
