ACC Daily Fever: Clemson Cannot Overlook NC State

Posted: Nov 12, 2009

Clemson has won four in a row, and the offense has averaged over 40 points a game during their streak. The Tigers can wrap up their first ACC Title Game berth with victories at NC State this week and against Virginia, two teams in the bottom third of the league.

The Wolfpack went 0-4 in October before winning last week against Maryland. Tom O’Brien’s club gave up an average of 44 points per game in those four league losses. So Clemson can walk into Carter-Finley Stadium and just count on a high-scoring win, right?

Dabo Swinney better have his team prepared for underdog NC State, who has a habit of rallying late in the season (7-2 in November) under O’Brien.

It looks like a mismatch on paper, especially with C.J. Spiller playing so well, but this is exactly the type of game Clemson has overlooked in the past. Swinney has a chance to forge a new path on Saturday and lead the Tigers one step closer to an Atlantic Division Title.
