ACC Daily Fever: UNC's Houston Looks to Star at Home in Bowl Game

North Carolina fans (and the players) may have wanted to go a little further from Chapel Hill than Charlotte for the postseason. But after an 0-3 start in league play, the Tar Heels are probably glad to be in a solid bowl. One player who will be thrilled to play at Bank of America Stadium is UNC’s Ryan Houston, as he tries to become the next local kid to perform well in this weekend’s Meineke Car Care Bowl. There has been a recent trend of Charlotte-area products (UVA’s Alvin Pearman, Wake Forest ’s Kenneth Moore, and UNC’s Hakeem Nicks) who have starred in the postseason finale, and Houston will try to lead the Heel offense against a tough Pitt team.

The junior running back talked about playing in his hometown:

"I definitely want to put on for my city and for my home crowd," Houston said. "I've got a lot of people needing tickets, a lot of family coming to the game. So if we can get it into the end zone a few times and have a good game - and the one thing I want to do is win. We didn't win last year. I want to win."

After losing their last game to NC State, North Carolina needs a good showing in their home state as they try to build momentum under Butch Davis. Hopefully for them and for the league, Houston and his teammates will represent well in Charlotte.
