Spike Lee Speaks Tonight At Savannah State University

Posted: Mar 22, 2011

An Evening with Spike Lee

Tonight Atlanta born filmmaker Spike Lee will speak at Savannah State University. Lee will discuss his life, work, politics and the ability of film to effect social change. SSU professor Chad Faries has been spreading the word on Lee’s appearance in Savannah. Faries also hosts Storytelling Time on WHCJ Savannah.

Last fall, Faries played an integral role in author and Moth creator George Dawes Green’s Unchained Tour of Georgia. The Savannah State University’s Student Government Association will present “An Evening with Spike Lee: America through My Lens” at 7PM in Tiger Arena. Proceeds benefit the Miss Savannah State University Scholarship fund.

Last summer, Lee released If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise, a follow-up film to the documentary When The Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, which followed the plight of Americans stranded after Hurricane Katrina.
