Just a few quick hits here on Thursday....
Snowman's Latest Column
Patrick Snow's new column is up. As a Vol himself, it pains him that he's calling out Phil Fulmer just a bit.
Also, take five minutes to watch Patrick taking care of business as host of Athlon's weekly College Football Preview. Patrick and Mitch Light cover several key games including LSU-South Carolina, Georgia-Alabama, and Kentucky-Arkansas.
Vince Young's Media Savvy
Today's NFL QBs can learn a few things from the second year Titan QB. Donovan McNabb unnecessarily put himself in the middle of a controversy by saying that black QBs are treated differently because of race. Vince Young got the obligatory question and handled it like a pro.
Young said:
You have to be able to handle all the pressure and you have to be able to handle the losses and you have to be able to handle the media saying this about you. If you can’t handle it, then you have to get off that position and go play something else.
In no way is this a knock on former Titans QB Steve McNair, but Young's presence and his experience leading a high profile Texas team helps him and the Titans. Take a look at Chris Simms down in Tampa, Young's predecessor at Texas. Simms seemed overwhelmed in Austin, and he seems the same in Tampa.
Yes, arm strength and accuracy are important, but making plays and being a leader are just as critical. Besides that, Young personifies the kind of QB any Southern football fan would want leading his team. The Titans got a gem with him - no doubt.
Beating the Dead Horse II
We won't let go of this theme. Take one look at this video and you can see where Dolphins owner Wayne Huzienga put his time and energy - his stadium.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins football team is circling the drain. We expect them to be 0-3 and at the bottom of SPF's T.I. Poll next week.
(Hey Wayne, you should be serving those rum runners at a discount so that Dolphins fan won't pay attention to the loser team and coaching staff you've assembled.)
