Today is the birthday of Ernest Hemingway. A southern literary note seems in order to salute one of America's greatest writers... 

Born in 1899, Hemingway served as a major influence on writers such as Hunter S. Thompson, Harry Crews, Larry Brown, Cormac McCarthy, Stanley Booth, Paul Hemphill, Flannery O'Connor and just about any other writer worth their salt.
